Just a short update to let you know what we’ve been up to the last little while. Aside from articulating the project through the framework of Viziters (which is of course a major articulation) we have been talking with Ravensbourne college about collaborating with students to scope and create the first prototype Viziter.
Last week we met with some of the tutors and students from Product Design, Design Interaction and others. There was a great turnout from the students and some great questions asked which demonstrated that they really Got It, which of course makes us even more excited to work with them.
Students will now be submitting their portfolios and 100 word summaries for why they want to work on this project and in early April we will be selecting between 5 and 7 students across multiple disciplines to work with. The work will take place between May/June and August and broadly encompass:
* scoping the senses we imbue each Viziter with (temperature/Sound levels/Proximity sensors etc)
* scoping how these senses are exposed and how they express themselves
* scoping the constraints of the environments we will be designing for leading to
* experimenting with materials for Viziter bodies
* experimenting with the relationship between chosen materials and time/the elements/Viziter social expression
* prototyping and fabricating a Viziter body
In the meantime we will be starting to design and scope the social relationships the Viziters will have, sketches like this one will continue to be published. As ever we’d love to know what you think about the directions we are taking so by all means drop us a line if you’d like.
