Dave Blake proposes to create a unique digital archive with the people of South East England telling the time whilst going about their everyday lives. 1,440 different people would tell the time each day – one person for each minute of the day. The films would portray a true and positive representation of 24 hours in the south east, embracing the region’s diversity. To realise this project, 288 filmmakers ranging from leading British directors to students from the South East will be invited to make five one-minute films each. Produced by Fuel, the project will be led by Dave Blake.

The Team
Dave Blake (Curator) is a South East based artist who has worked over the last twenty years writing, designing, directing and production-enabling ‘live’ performance. His work has ranged from stints as Production Manager with Theatre de Complicite and designing the national touring production of Nick Hornby’s ‘Fever Pitch’, to being ‘cornerman’ for Jim Davidson. As a writer he co-wrote ‘Brighton Til I Die’ – a play celebrating the centenary of Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club, ‘The Belated Happy Birthday Mr Bowie Show’ which he also directed, and a series of football / barbershop-related monologues called ‘Chair Talk’ for BBC Southern Counties Radio. Outside ‘live’ performance, Dave co-created ‘Boxing Clever’ – a project that made cultural-icon box-art – anything from depictions of the menu for the last supper, to Morrissey’s bedroom prior to the formation of The Smiths. In 2008 he had his first book ‘The Football Fans Quizbook’ published. His second book, ‘The Random Book of…David’ – a shameless stocking-filler for people with that name – is to be published in October 2009. Dave is also the originator of ‘The Random Book of…’ series of books.
Simon Wilkinson (Film editor / facilitator) is a West Sussex based filmmaker who has been working as a writer, director and film editor for the past twelve years. His company, Junk TV Ltd, produces 70 to 80 youth and community films per year. The company’s aim is to extend access to film skills and technology to diverse and often marginalized groups. Simon is part of the team that manages the Oska Brighton Festival, a disability film project that won the National Lottery award for Best UK Arts Project 2008.
Stef Lewandowski (Web/online director) is a web innovator with a string of awards for web-based creative and arts projects, including a prestigious Webby Award for the First Light Movie website in 2008. Stef developed the website for The Big Picture, a large-scale photographic project to build the World's largest ever physical photo montage via web, email and postal submissions of photos from members of the public, which won a Webby Honouree award that same year. Stef is a Clore Fellow, and has a keen interest in applications of web and video technologies in cultural projects. He is currently developing: HelpMeInvestigate.com, one of the first 4IP investments by Channel 4; dadeo.com, a social network for fathers; and he co-owns the experimental record label TypeRecords.com. In 2009 he was picked by the Observer as the number 2 'one to watch' in their Future 500 publication.
